The renovated spaces will also enlarge the college library, academic support center, new science labs, and additional offices for student services.
The new addition will be constructed of a steel frame with concrete slab on grade, composite steel deck, and concrete spread footings. It will be structurally independent from the existing building, separated by a fire wall and seismic joint. Framing for the roof will be structural steel with metal roof deck. A composite roof deck will be used on roof areas that contain mechanical equipment. This project will meet Connecticut High Performance Building Standards as well as LEED Silver Certification.

Renovation of 36,000 sf of space in Lafayette Hall, plus a 46,000 gross sf addition. Renovated areas include student services suites, Library, Academic Support Center, Media Services, and Science and Math spaces. The 3-story addition will be located to west of Lafayette Hall, north of the parking garage. This new area includes a new "Welcome Center," student services suites, two multi-purpose spaces, several general classrooms, and the College's Art Department.
